Lighting Plans

We  wanted to Film at dusk Where the light would be minimal so went to stamford toplan to test out the light out at different times.we had to optimise natural light as we had no way of lighting the shots.

 

 whilst in stamford on our day we found oppertunities where we could take advantage of light sources this alley way seemed ideal fo a shot and it had good source of light which gave the shot real class.

this was my mood board which i desighned to comunicate the ideas we intend to put in our promotional video these pictures hepled me expalin what shot types and what conventions i wanted to play too in our promotional music video.

 



Location

We then looked into location we decided on going to Stamford as it was easier to commute there as its not far from Bourne and we did not want to set in Bourne as it is familiar to us and others , this then would take quality away from are promotional video.

we used stamford as its looks very vintage and we thought that would follow the conventions of many indie promotional videos. also the surroundings of stamfrod are very old so we thought it would suit the the tempo and mood of our song.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 Reserching into loations in stamford we found many places where we thought would be ideal to shoot at the places above is where we planned to do are filming as the green has 2 nice bridges which would go well with "i am leaving this town" and there a few park benches amongst the green which we thought would go well with the narrative

 

By choosing stamford which is rural town we have not followed the indie genre as there promotional video are usually set in an urban envirioment so we are going against the typical conventions of an indie promotional video.

 

In mumfords and sons baabel they also go against the typical conventions indie music videos by setting the video in rural rustic town similiar to are choice of stamfor this is why we thought it would be ideal

In cold play promotional video the scientist, chris martin walkes throught an urban built up enviroment where this is typical to indie genre are those locations.

Also stamford has a recrational area which was ideal for music video as it fit in with the genre because in some indie video they preform in fields of areas which are bleak such as in the one republic videos the good life 

 

Plan of the shoot

On are filming day we went out to Stamford t film are music promotional video. We went to Stamford because we thought it would tie in well with our song as it was very classical scenery so it would look well with the slow tempo of the song. We also noticed that it other indie promotional video they were in built up areas so aimed to play to the conventions of the genre.

In Stamford James had the role of the camera man controlling the shoot as he knew what shot variations we wanted from our story boards.

My role on the shoot day was to be the star of the music video so I acted for the day.

James roles was camera man as he had good sense of direction of what the overall promotional video would look like

The 99s

At the start of our planning me and James got together and decided what genre we would like to make a promotional video . We decided on Indie genre after watching many promotional videos .We looked for a track on unsigned.com this is where we came across the 99s which we were really fond of because they current band with a current sound. We originally picked the song we own the night by the 99s but in the end after looking into the track after much consideration and looking in detail at the track we then decided on doing Eymet as lyrically there was more we could do narratively and mix in with a bit of performance as we had many ideas being thrown around.
